Tallulah Bark-Huss


Director of Engagement and Strategy

Tallulah is a senior studying Film & TV with a minor in Jewish Studies. She hails from Chicago, IL but loves pretending to be a Bostonian. As Director of Engagement and Strategy, she oversees many teams that work to create the framework for COMLab and help internal optimization and audience engagement. In her spare time, she sings in the Boston University a capella scene and can be found hanging around the nearest Whole Foods. After graduation, Tallulah hopes to use her knack for creative storytelling to pursue a career in television.

Victoria Bortoluzzi


Director of Enterprise Communication

Victoria is the Division Director of Enterprise Communication. As the division director of enterprise communication, she helps establish communication within social media and internal communications, as well as helps navigate projects like BU Thrive and Communicating for Societal Change. Victoria is a graduate student studying public relations, Class of 2020. Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, she has a passion for hockey and storytelling. Victoria's passion for storytelling derives from her Italian heritage, this has helped her develop communication skills to become a diverse communicator.

Director of Performance and

Entertainment

Patrick came from Long Island to enter Boston University's Film & Television program, concentrating in television writing and management. Patrick also picked up a double minor in Journalism and Innovation & Entrepreneurship. As Director of Performance and Entertainment, he oversees a variety of multimedia projects. In his free time, he makes music, writes, and skates. His mantra is simple: Hit the finish line and then find another race.

Jane Hanabury


Team Lead, Social Media

Jane is a rising senior at Boston University, pursuing a major in Advertising with a concentration in Economics. At COMLab, she takes on the role of Social Media Director. She leads a team of colleagues who post and engage with their audience on several social media platforms. Jane’s hometown is Hingham, MA, not far from BU! She is looking forward to seeing all of the amazing things her colleagues will do and create in COMLab!

Team Co-Lead, News and Lifestyle

Diana is the Director of the Division of News and Information, and she leads the COMLab News and Lifestyle team with Rachael Dier. She grew up in the Chicago suburbs, but she’s spent the past three years in Boston studying journalism with minors in Spanish and international relations. Diana is about to start her senior year, and she’s excited to kick her last year off with COMLab.

Sharvari is the project lead on Faculty Fables, a blog series aimed at highlighting personal stories about BU's faculty and staff. Sharvari is a rising senior pursuing a Film and TV (COM) and Psychology (CAS) dual degree.

Team Lead, User Interaction

Michelle is a rising senior at Boston University studying Journalism with a minor in Computer Science. Originally from the Bay Area, she has developed a passion for multimedia storytelling, UX design, and Asian representation in media. In her spare time, she loves planning events for Boston University’s Asian Student Union, writing Yelp reviews, and listening to podcasts for hours on end. She is currently the User Interaction Team Lead at COMLab.

Executive Producer and Host, Six Feet From Terrier Nation

Team Co-Lead, News and Lifestyle; Team Co-Lead, Research

Self-described as a multimedia storyteller, Rachael loves bringing stories to life through different media and amplifying the community voices. Recently graduated with her MA in Emerging Media Studies, Rachael is looking to enter the media industry as either a researcher or strategist, seeking the opportunity to advocate for users and center them in the product/program development process. Rachael currently serves as the Executive Producer and Host of "Six Feet From Terrier Nation" and Co-Lead of the News and Lifestyle team as well as the Research Team. In all of her roles with COMLab, Rachael utilizes her qualitative research skills to properly document this surreal chapter in BU history.

Sophie Falkenheim


Producer and Creative Director, Counting Time

Sophie is a rising junior pursuing a degree in Film & TV. Raised in the D.C. area, she is heavily involved in BUTV10 as a political analyst on Good Morning BU and as a grip/electric for Bay State, the country’s longest-running college soap opera. Outside of schoolwork, her passions include writing at Pavement Coffeehouse and robust public transit systems. She is the producer and creative director of Counting Time, an episodic radio saga, coming soon.

Michelle Gold


Team Lead, Branding

Michelle is the COMLab Branding Lead and was the lead designer of the COMLab logo. She is a senior, majoring in Advertising and minoring in Urban Studies. Outside of COMLab, she is also the Music Director of WTBU Radio. Her dream is to work in the entertainment or music industry. When Michelle is not hanging out on Comm Ave, you can find her in her hometown of Providence, Rhode Island.

Creator and Producer, That Time I

Sara is the creator and producer of the "That Time I" video series. The series showcases funny, outrageous and bizarre stories from students from their time in college and graduate school. Sara grew up in Boston, Massachusetts and is a child of Haitian Immigrants. Sara is currently in her last year of her Masters in Screenwriting program at Boston University.

Team Lead, About Women, For Women

Emily was born and raised in South Florida. She loves Boston and enjoys its fall weather and fall season best.  She is a senior in COM majoring in Advertising. Emily has a special interest in the rights of Women all over the world. She believes that women should have equal rights and should feel empowered. Emily knows the BULab platform will be instrumental to inform, educate, and create topics that will help others understand Women inequality and also empower women and girls.  Before BULab, Emily founded and led an organization that provided over 20,000 books to underprivileged children and deployed soldiers. She also has experience working in social media marketing.

Julia Kotaev


Team Lead, COMbating COVID-19

Julia is a New Jersey native and currently a senior majoring in Public Relations with a focus in Psychology. She is the Team Leader of COMbating COVID-19, which is COMLab’s go-to resource for students in search of information on COM’s plans surrounding the COVID-19 virus. She loves coming up with new ideas and you can always find her with iced coffee in one hand and a planner in the other.

Team Co-Lead, Creator and Producer, Keep COM and Cook With Us

Olivia is the creator and producer of Keep COM and Cook With Us. She oversees all other positions and makes sure they all meet deadlines and that the show runs smoothly. Olivia is a junior studying film and television. She is from New York City.

Team Co-Lead, Research

Kelsey was born and raised in Puyallup, Washington and received her bachelor's degree in communication from Pacific Lutheran University. At BU, she is working toward earning her master's degree in public relations. Kelsey is very involved in the BU COM department, having served as a COM 101 discussion facilitator, a senior editor for the COMmunicator, an account supervisor for PRLab, and a chair member for the COM Graduate Student Council.

Liz McCarthy


Co-Host and Producer, No Echo

Liz is a rising junior from suburban Houston, Texas. She is pursuing degrees in International Relations and Media Science. This summer, she is working on No Echo, a politics, history, and culture podcast whose goal is to feature stories that have fallen off the news cycle in an effort to eliminate the political echo chamber. The idea for this arose out of the intersectionality between her two majors and the current news cycle. She has had a great time scripting and recording the podcast with her co-host Naomi Richmond, and they both hope you tune in!

Project Lead, Communicating for Societal Change

Ryan is a second year graduate student in the PR program from Sunset Beach, California. Public relations is Ryan’s passion, and he loves all areas of the communication industry. Before joining COMLab, Ryan has served as an account supervisor, an account director, and, most recently, vice president of PRLab, Boston University's student-led PR agency. Also, Ryan spent three years working in fashion PR, where he worked with a startup brand to build their reputation and create a strong social media following. Through his studies, Ryan found a passion for purpose-driven PR and corporate social responsibility. After graduating, Ryan hopes to work in either health communications or public affairs and eventually receive his MBA.

Emily is the class lead of the Bellwether Study Promotion project. She is a graduate student finishing up this fall with a master's in Advertising. Emily is from Clinton, Mississippi and received a bachelor's degree from the University of Alabama.

Jessica is the producer of the COM as You Are podcast. She hails from New York City and is days away from completing her graduate degree in public relations. Upon graduating Jessica hopes to use her degree to make positive social change.

Verónica Rodríguez


Team Co-Lead, Events

Meet Verónica, the co-lead of COMLab Events. Verónica is from the tropical and breezy Puerto Rico. She earned her Bachelor of Communication from Boston College and couldn’t get away from Boston! Due to her experiences and eagerness to narrow her interests within the public relations branch, she enrolled in Boston University College of Communication to pursue her master’s in Public Relations. Verónica has in excess of five years of work experience across several disciplines including media assistant, public relations, campaign management, and health communication. Due to her past work experiences, she has found a passion for healthcare and wishes to pursue this career post-grad school.

Team Lead, Internal Communications

Rachel is originally from Los Angeles, California, but has now made Boston her second home. She has experience in medical marketing, fashion pr, and event planning. In the past, Rachel was an account executive and an account supervisor for Ben & Jerry’s at PRLab. Rachel also planned Sigma Kappa’s Primary Recruitment events during the Spring 2020 semester as VP of Membership. Now, Rachel is the Lead of Internal Communications at COMLab, President of Operations at PRLab, and Director of Branding at empath worldwide. Apart from work, Rachel loves traveling and exploring new cultures and cuisines. Some of her favorite trips include Vietnam, The Galapagos Islands, and Spain. In the future, Rachel hopes to continue working in integrated marketing communications, specifically in branding, to develop and maintain the brand's image, mission, and guidelines that make the brand unique amongst competition.

Kianna, team lead and coordinator, is a senior in COM studying Mass Communications with an emphasis in public relations. She grew up in New Jersey but is originally from the Dominican Republic. Marina Sylvestri


Team Co-Lead and Producer, Keep COM and Cook With Us

Marina Sylvestri is the team lead for COMLabs premiere cooking show, "Com Cook With Us." The show is meant to showcase different cultures around the world. She is from the San Francisco Bay Area and has a BS in Public Relations from Boston University. She will be continuing her education at BU this fall through the Television Production and Management master's program. At the same time, Marina will be continuing to compete for the softball team with her extra years of eligibility.
